You can find Part 1 of Logan’s party HERE. I left off telling you about the candy buffet that sent our guests home in a sugar coma. Here are the rest of the party details. I’ll be blogging my “how-to’s” and party tips soon.

I saw a sock monkey cake pop tutorial on pinterest awhile back and I just had to recreate them for Logan’s party. I thought they came out super cute. I also made a few plain chocolate cake pops dipped in chocolate and nuts, so yummy! Sweets Unlimited made the cake, based on a sketch I drew. Notice how the dots at the bottom of the cake match the graphics, they did a fab job. I made the mini flag bunting on the cake using scrapbook paper, string and wooden skewers. The graphic design elements came from Chickabug and Perfect Cards.

In Arizona, you try to avoid using the oven in the hot summer months. So, with 40 guests coming over I had to plan a menu that wouldn’t heat up our house. We had a “monkey see, monkey do, make your own sandwich” station, pasta salad, pinwheels (complete with paper flags), chips, dip, fruit kabobs, yogurt fruit dip, and banana puree for the babes. Oh and what is a party without the dessert. We had banana pudding, sock monkey cookies (made by my talented mom with inspiration from Sweet Sugarbelle), banana/chocolate/vanilla cupcakes and of course a candy buffet complete with sock monkey cake pops.

Remember the sock monkey birthday hat tutorial that I wrote for Craft? Well, I made Logan a similar party hat that matched the hats I made for the guests. Oh yes, I made our guests wear party hats. I spent many nap time hours making party hats out of scrapbook paper and other embellishments. I love the group photo of everyone in them, a great keepsake for Logan. Logan wore his hat approximately two seconds, just long enough for Jen to snap a quick pic, before he pulled it off of his head. Remember me blogging about the sock monkey shirt I made for Logan, well here it is on the birthday boy post-cake smash.

You see that amazing antique red highchair? It was a yard sale find by my dad (I told you he was a treasure hunter). I didn’t even have to paint it, what a great find! I just added mini flag bunting to make it a bit more festive. Just like his first cake smash, Logan barely tasted the cake and wasn’t a fan. It is hard to believe that MY child doesn’t like cake. I know for a fact he wasn’t switched at birth because, well, we had him at home. Logan was more interested in playing with the little sock monkey and taking him apart limb by limb.

The party was a hit, everyone had a blast and the birthday boy was completely spoiled. Logan is so very loved. I’m so very lucky to be his mommy and I look forward to many more birthdays. Time to start planning his 2nd birthday party…

A big thanks to Kara’s Party Ideas, Pizzazzerie and Tip Junkie for featuring this party!
