I’m going to do just that. After my little hiatus from the gym because of my trip and the never-ending cold, it has been difficult getting back on track. I started mama bootcamp, round 2, last Wednesday and it felt so good to workout again after a week of not working out. It was a good jump start to the next chapter of this journey, except I discovered that I gained 3 pounds. That sucked, but it wasn’t totally unexpected after a week of treating my body like crap.
I’m going to start fresh right now, this minute. Last week is in the past and I’m going to make a re-commitment to myself. I’m going to stop saying “tomorrow”…tomorrow I’ll start eating healthy…tomorrow I’ll get to the gym. No more. I’m re-starting this weight loss journey today. I’m back to respecting my body and finishing what I started.
So, I need a plan to get back on track. First, I’m cutting out caffeine again for the next 8 weeks, and possibly permanently. GASP, I know. What am I going to do without my Starbucks?! While I love my soy mocha lattes, I have so much more energy without them throughout the entire day. I’m on day 6 and dragging. It takes a good 2 weeks to detox from it. Plus, I drink more water when I’m not chugging coffee and coke. I eat less when I drink more water. So, goodbye coffee and tea and chocolate. By the way, chocolate will not be given up permanently. I’m not THAT crazy.
Second, I’m back to working out 6 days a week. Monday night is kickboxing, Tuesday night is spinning, Wednesday night is mama bootcamp, Thursday night is running, Friday I take off, Saturday morning is mama bootcamp and Sunday morning is spinning. I’m also going to try to fit in an ab workout at least 3 days a week and try to run in the mornings with Logan as much as possible (and before it becomes unbearably hot).
Lastly, I need to get back on track with eating. This is the toughest part of weight loss for me. It’s hard changing almost 30 years of bad habits. Luckily, Nutrisystem has been such an incredible source of support. I’m very grateful to have them as my teacher during this journey. I have 5ish more pounds to go until I’m at my 30lb weight loss goal and until I get Nutribear 30 (I’ve never wanted a stuffed bear more in my life). I can do this! I’m going to start logging what I eat religiously, no cheating.
My motivation? Aside from just wanting to be a healthier person, avoid a strong family history of diabetes and being a good example for my son? I have a more narcissistic reason – swimsuit season is quickly approaching and I live in Arizona, where you live in the pool from June-August. Plus, I’m turning 30 in July and I would love to be the fittest I’ve ever been in my life in my 30’s. I think I’m already accomplishing that one though, because I never would have been capable of running a 5k a decade ago!
Here I go. Today. Right now. Wish me luck.
