It’s always tough for me to get back in the swing of things after vacation, especially a vacation where 5 course meals and poolside drinks were involved. Unfortunately the pounds you gain in Vegas don’t stay in Vegas. My usual M.O. is to drag out vacation as long as I possibly can, long after we’ve returned home, until I find myself right back in my fat jeans. I gave all of my fat jeans away, so it looks like I’m going to need another plan (that doesn’t consist of me living in yoga pants).
Fortunately, I was
dumb smart enough to sign up for another 5k right after my vacation shenanigans. I have just a couple weeks to get back into running shape again. I’ll be running The Color Run in NM on the 25th. Super excited about it, but also a tad nervous. I probably shouldn’t have taken a month off from running because holy cow I felt it on the treadmill last night! My ankles, my calves, my everything is screaming at me today and I barely ran 2 miles. Also, one of my friends recently reminded me that the elevation will be higher in NM, making it more difficult to run there. Lovely.
I have a plan though. I’m going to workout 6 days a week until the run and 3 of those days will be my running days. By next week I’ll up my mileage to 3 miles. I’m also going to be hardcore with my Nutrisystem plan (and hopefully the scale will show it next week). I printed out the quote above and hung it up, to give me a little extra motivation for the next couple weeks. Isn’t it true? I was already making up excuses about why I shouldn’t go to kickboxing today (I’m too tired, I have too much work to do, etc.), but I’m so glad I ended up going. I feel awesome after a hard workout like that! No regrets.
