(diy tutorial) vegas accordion cupcake toppers

Vegas Accordian Cupcake Toppers

The hubby and I had such a fabulous time in Vegas for my 30th birthday, that I knew we had to go back when I heard Bloggy Boot Camp was going to be there next month. Thanks to Fat Quarter Shop, my amazing, super awesome, most bestest sponsor in the entire world I get to go!

Fat Quarter Shop has tons of exciting things going on right now.  They have been busy designing patterns for their pattern shop, It’s Sew Emma and creating kits featuring new collections. One of my favorites is the Accentuate the Positive quilt kit. The pattern is designed by Kimberly Jolly for It’s Sew Emma and it features the Little Black Dress collection by Basic Grey for Moda. I’m drooling over how gorgeous this quilt is, if only I had the patience and will-power to make it. I might just have to make a bunch of mini pot holder quilts using this chic pattern.

I’m beyond excited to be representing my favorite go-to fabric shop in Vegas next month! So, what does a crafty girl like me do to celebrate an upcoming Vegas trip? I make casino themed cupcake toppers of course! These accordion toppers, made out of playing cards and scrapbook paper, would be perfect for a Vegas themed party. You could set up different card games around your house and provide guests with little buckets for their winnings. Cover your tables with green felt, like a roulette table, and decorate using poker chips and fake money. Your casino party is sure to be a winner!

Step 1: Cut 2 – 12 x 1 ½ inch strips of scrapbook paper per cupcake topper.
Step 2: Fold the strips, accordion style, and hot glue the 2 strips together to form a circle.
Step 3: Push the circle together and add hot glue to the center. Hold in place until the glue hardens.
Step 4: Punch a 2 inch circle out of playing cards and hot glue to the center of the accordion.
Step 5: Hot glue a lollipop stick to the back of the accordion and place in a cupcake.

I'm Vanessa and it's my mission in life to spread my love of hot glue guns and glitter to others. I suffer from craft ADHD, regularly working on at least 10 projects at the same time and my craft room looks like a tornado hit it. My first craft book, Party in a Jar, was published in 2014. I look forward to crafting with you!
