Baby Amelia arrived, safely at home, on July 21st and we couldn’t be more in love. I’m still working on the birth story, but in the meantime here are a few photos of her You Are My Sunshine themed nursery (taken by the fabulous Jen of Green Apple Images). From before my first child was born, I knew what my baby girl’s nursery would look like. I wanted it doused in pink and feminine. I wanted something reminiscent of my own childhood. Like Logan’s woodland themed nursery, I also wanted a room that could grow with her. I love how her room turned out and can’t wait to see her grow in it.

Books were a huge part of my childhood, so Amelia’s room wouldn’t have been complete without a book shelf. I actually used photo ledges from Ikea for the shelves and filled them with Golden Books from my childhood. I found the toy storage bench for her reading nook from KidKraft, the chevron pillows from Marshalls and the little vintage clock was thrifted. I love mixing vintage with modern in my decorating.

Amelia’s white Jenny Lind crib was exactly the feminine look I wanted for her room. The frame above her crib is from Ikea, primed and painted white (now they come in white). I love the simple A monogram inside the frame. The crib bedding is by Dwell Studio and what I based the entire color scheme of the room on. I found You Are My Sunshine Prints that perfectly match the bedding from Etsy seller YassisPlace.

Amelia’s chair and ottoman are from Babies R Us and they are the most comfy things in the world (a must for a nursery). The You Are My Sunshine sign is from Etsy seller rachaelwindemuller and is the perfect centerpiece for my hoop art, using fabric from Fat Quarter Shop.

Amelia’s stenciled wall and coral chalk paint dresser were the most time consuming pieces of the room and what I love most about the room. I wanted a subtle stencil pattern, so I used white acrylic paint with the cascade pattern from Cutting Edge Stencils. I wasn’t so sure how it would turn out while I was doing it, but I’m in love with it now. Such a fun way to add an accent wall in a room and the color and pattern options are endless! The dresser and nightstand were thrifted and look exactly like what I had in my room as a little girl. After consulting with Audrey’s, a fun store here in AZ that sells chalk paint, I came up with the perfect recipe for Annie Sloan coral paint and went to town. No priming, no sanding, no fumes…be still my painting heart!
Coral Chalk Paint = 32oz Scandinavian pink, 4oz Barcelona orange + 1/4 cup pure white
Another favorite element of Amelia’s room is all of the handmade gifts she was showered with. My mom made that sweet little elephant using a pattern from Etsy seller retromama and fabric from Fat Quarter Shop. My sweet friend Dena crocheted the chevron blanket for Amelia.

The ruffled blackout curtains are from Pottery Barn and I made the floral lamp using a plain lamp from Target (tutorial coming soon). After scouring the internet and stores for the perfect rug, I found her yellow rug online at RugsUSA. It’s actually an outdoor rug but still soft and perfect for the traffic of a kids room. I just adore all of the sweet details of Amelia’s room, so perfect for the sweet baby she is.

  3. This turned out absolutely beautiful! Every single detail is perfect. I almost bought those curtains in pink for Lila’s room, but opted to make my own to save our budget.
