My sweet friend, Lynette of Hovering Heart Photography, stopped by last week to shoot a few Valentine’s Day photos of my kiddos. She had some great ideas for creating your own DIY Valentine’s Day photo shoot. You don’t need fancy studio or even a fancy camera to recreate these ideas. Shop your house and see what fun props you find, use your phone’s camera and get creative! Pear Treat Greetings also has some fun Valentine’s Day photo ideas that you’ll want to check out! Check out their adorable collection of Valentine’s Day Cards while you are there. I plan on ordering the super hero Valentine cards for Logan’s classmates.

Idea 1: Hang a Valentine’s Day banner! We stole this idea from Pear Tree Greetings and printed out their FREE LOVE banner printable for this shot. You can get a piece of white chair railing from your local hardware store or seamless white photography paper to use as your background and hang the banner from. This works great for babies!
Idea 2: Use fun props! Check craft stores or the dollar sections of your favorite stores for fun Valentine’s Day props. Lynette found these fun heart shaped whistles to use as props, which comes in handy for a 3 year old boy that wants nothing to do with sitting still for pictures! You can also turn a diy lemonade stand into a festive kissing booth, using fun supplies from the craft store.
Idea 3: Make heart confetti! Cute hearts out of red, white and pink scrapbook paper and scatter around your kiddo for a fun Valentine’s Day photo. Tutus are also a great “prop” for your girls.
