Looking for back to school snack recipes? Make this fun back to school treat and craft for your kiddos or their teachers! After school treats are especially nice for children that might be having some separation anxiety or a difficult time with the transition. You can make these apple dessert jars with your kiddos the night before school so that they have something to look forward to when they get home from school. Unless you are sharing, I recommend using jelly sized jars for kid sized portions. Logan’s first week of preschool last year was rough for all of us (cue the waterproof mascara), with it being his first time away from home for a long period of time, but he quickly learned to love school. This year he reassured me that he wasn’t going to cry. I can’t promise the same for me.

Dessert Ingredients

White Chocolate JELL-O Pudding Mix
Cool Whip
Milk (I used almond milk)
Red Food Coloring (optional)
Graham Cracker Crumbs

Apple Jar Materials

Wide Mouth Pint Sized Mason Jar
Red Balloon
Red Cupcake Liner
Green Pipe Cleaner
Green Scrapbook Paper
Hole Punch
Scissors

Instructions

Step 1: Head to Walmart to purchase your JELL-O, Cool Whip and other ingredients for this project.

Step 2: Cut the tail off of of a red balloon and stretch the balloon over the bottom of the pint sized mason jar. This will give you a faux paint dipped mason jar look, minus the mess.

Step 3: Make the JELL-O according to the package. Mix in 5-10 drops of red food coloring (optional) and the tub of Cool Whip. Place in jars and allow to set in refrigerator for a couple hours.

Step 4: Sprinkle graham cracker crumbs on top of the pudding mixture. Place a cupcake topper over the lid before placing the jar ring on.

Step 5: Cut a leaf shape out of the green scrapbook paper and punch a hole at one end. String a pipe cleaner through the leaf and tie it around the jar. Enjoy!

Thanks Katie! Logan had a tough time last year in his first year of preschool. Treats and fun back to school things help :)
