Detox Water

So, this past week had it’s share of ups and downs. Logan is STILL recovering from that dang stomach bug, which means a 5am wake up call for mama every morning. I got in 6 days of workouts, but my eating wasn’t super great. When I write down exactly what I’m eating in my Nutrisystem book, I stay on track. I’m going to make it my goal this week to be good about keeping up with my food log.

On Wednesday, the dreaded weigh in day at my mama bootcamp, I only lost a measly pound. BUT my clothes fit better, I have more energy and I feel so much stronger. The stupid scale plays games with my head, hence the binge eating. I feel like I’m working my butt off, but the scale isn’t reflecting that. And I know, I know…muscle weighs more than fat and blah, blah, blah. I know all of this, but I still want to see the scale move. My instructor reminded me that I just recovered from the stomach flu and my body is probably adjusting to eating again. We’ll see what the scale says in a couple days. I’m trying to remind myself that my ultimate goal is a healthier lifestyle, which I’m accomplishing.

Speaking of goals, every week at bootcamp we come up with a new goal for ourselves. Last week, my goal was to drink 80 oz of water…per day. After the first few days, I got a little sick of plain water and needed to spice it up a bit. I found a recipe for “detox water” over at a sweet simple life and had to try it. It’s basically 1/2 cucumber, 12 mint leaves and 2 lemons added to 3 quarts of water. Let sit for 8 hours. I’ve been chugging this water like crazy, it is really good and a break from plain H20. I just made a new batch of it today. If you try it, be warned that you will be using the restroom every 2 seconds.

On Saturday, I get to cross of a huge goal of mine. I will be running my very first 5k! A month ago I would have been nervous, but this mama bootcamp has given me confidence in my body and it’s abilities. Heck, I ran 4 miles uphill carrying a 10 pound weight on Saturday. Bring on the 5k! My goal for this race is to just complete it. We won’t be timed, so no pressure there. I’m actually really looking forward to it. I’ll let you know how it goes!

How’s your week going? What are your fitness goals?

    1. Thanks so much for your words of encouragement! I’ll have to try adding ginger to mine next time 🙂

  1. I admire your ability to run! Good luck on Saturday!
    I. hate. running. it hurts my shins, I get all wheezy, I just can’t do it. (I probably *could* but I just have no desire to)
I prefer dancing as my main source of exercise because the music and intricate steps keep my mind off of those sort of things.

Sounds like you’re doing awesome. Don’t let the scale get you down. You fit in those medium yoga pants, remember that!

  2. I’ll have to try this detox water recipe, it sounds better than plain water & might help me lose some water weight. Good luck & have fun at your 5K this weekend, you’ll do great! Your bootcamp sounds like it’s harder than the one I do! You’ll ace this 5K with energy to spare! 🙂

  3. I’ve never tried detox water, but I definitely need to up my ounces I drink. Does the cucumber, mint or lemon make you pee more or is it just the fact that you’ve been drinking 80 oz a day? lol I’m glad you’re not letting the scale mess with your head as much. If your clothes fit better and you feel healthier then you are doing great. Keep it up! 🙂

  4. Good for you! Drinking enough water has always been a problem for me because I just don’t find it satisfying. I’m am going to try the “detox” water because it sounds goo! Thanks for sharing, and good luck this weekend!

    1. Thanks! The water is yummy…I’m headed to the grocery store after Logan’s nap to pick up more ingredients for a new batch 🙂
