When I first saw the Bed of Nails pillow and mat, I wasn’t so sure about it. I’m the girl that’s terrified of needles and anything remotely resembling them. When I posted the picture below on instagram of me hanging out on the Bed of Nails, a friend commented that it didn’t look very comfortable. BUT it totally is! You can barely feel the “nails” (which are really tiny plastic spikes) and somehow after 10 minutes on the mat you get off feeling more relaxed and ready to deal with a cranky toddler who hasn’t napped all day.

Bed of Nails works similiar to acupuncture (I’ll stick with the bed), in that it helps the body release endorphins. It’s a happy pill rolled into a mat. The website also says that it may help with stress, headaches, constipation, tiredness and insomnia. Where was this mat when I was a walking zombie during those newborn days?! The website says that it might even reduce the appearance of cellulite. Sign me up!

Now that I’m on a health kick, I’m trying to find more natural ways to de-stress and get my energy up. I think this will be a great supplement to my workouts and healthy eating. If nothing else, it’s just a great excuse to take a 10 minute mommy timeout when I feel overwhelmed. I feel much more patient and ready to chase after an almost 2 year old when I do.

  1. i would like the bed of nails… because i am a college student going into a social work major, so stress will always be in my life from this point on. i also have frequently horrible headaches so the moment you said it helps headaches i knew i had to try and win.

  2. I’d love to try It because i think it would be great for my back after a day working in the Greenhouse.

  3. With having two children, I am constantly stressed. I also have neck and back pain from carrying a child and his car seat around alot during the day.

  4. I would love to try this for me and my husband. He is always complaining about his back, and pregnancy and night nursing has taken a toll on mine. I’m also looking for more natural pain and stress relief, especially as we’re trying to get pregnant again soon!

  5. I’ve heard great things about accupuncture and accupressure and I’d love something to try at home!

  6. I need something to relax me…and dh isn’t any good at giving back massages! I am usually on my feet 8 hrs a day with an additional 15-20lbs around my waist so this would be heaven to lay on when I come home!

  7. This looks amazing! I could definitely use any de-stresser. Keeping up with a toddler is definitely no small feat. (As you well know)
