I was not financially compensated for this post. I received tickets to the Dirty Girl Mud Run for review purposes. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience.

I’ve laced back up my running shoes and I’m officially back on the running bandwagon. Except it’s more like a woggle – walk + jog and more walk than jog. Pre-pregnancy I was running 5+ miles on a daily basis and training for my first half-marathon. Post-pregnancy? I’m struggling to run a mile straight. Running just didn’t feel good while I was pregnant so I had to take a break from it (and my weight showed it). So back to the beginning I go and because I like a challenge (or I’m just crazy), I decided to sign up for the Dirty Girl Mud Run. I’ll be the girl who gets stuck in the mud and can’t get out.

My team, which consists of mostly AZ bloggers, we’re called the Dirty Bloggers. Funny thing is that I’m not a huge fan of mud or dirty, but I’ve done a mud run before and I know how motivating and inspiring it was for me. I love that this particular mud run is just for the ladies and that Dirty Girl provides free registrations to cancer survivors. Very cool! I love that I get to run alongside some amazing women…who will probably kick my butt on the course. The great thing is that this run is totally just for fun and won’t be timed.

So, I’m on week 3 of couch to 5k with my favorite running partner in tow (the BOB got awfully heavy since the last time I ran!). I’d LOVE to be able to run the entire course, but my real goal this time around is to just have a good time with my friends and to kick start my journey back to a healthier me. And what’s funner than sliding down a massive slide into a puddle of mud after running 3 miles? I can’t wait!

If you are in the Phoenix, AZ area, join us! The Dirty Girl Mud Run is on Saturday, November 16th and make sure to use the discount code DGPHOENIX for 20% off.

  1. I’m also doing the couch to 5k program and I really like it. I plan on running my very first 5k in the spring of next year. I’m not a runner, so I figured I needed a lot of extra time to prepare! The mud run really sounds like a lot of fun. So glad you’re focusing on having fun and staying fit! That’s the best way to do it! Good luck on your run and hope you have a great time!
