Summer is quickly approaching, so says the 90 degree weather here in Arizona this weekend, and what better way to cool off than with some homemade lemon sorbet. This recipe is easy enough for the kiddos to help with and they’ll love eating out of the lemon shells. I got to use my ice cream maker for the very first time and I’m already concocting new recipes for it. This lemon sorbet recipe is the perfect mix of sweet and sour, you’ll wish you made more! If you’ve ever tasted genuine Italian ice, this is very similar with a smoother consistency.

Ingredients (5 servings)

1 cup sugar

1 cup water

1 cup lemon juice (approximately 4 lemons)

zest from 1 lemon

Directions: Over medium heat, place sugar and water in a small saucepan and stir until sugar dissolves. Add in freshly squeezed lemon juice and zest. Place in another bowl and chill in refrigerator. Once chilled, place in ice cream maker and make according to machine’s instructions. Scoop into halved empty lemon shells and enjoy!
