My kiddos had a blast at Disney Live! Mickey’s Music Festival in Arizona yesterday! My little Minnie Mouse, Amelia, enjoyed dancing and clapping to the music (learn how to make the visor she’s wearing HERE). It was the perfect amount of time for my short-attention spanned toddler. My preschooler, Logan, couldn’t take his eyes off the stage. His favorite part was when Ursula from The Little Mermaid made an appearance. He’s always had a little thing for the underdog villains. He also loved the black light ocean scene. My favorite part was when The Little Mermaid sisters busted out their own rendition of Single Ladies. The show was a fun mix of popular music and Disney classics. I’m not going to give away too many details, but we loved it! And guess what? Mickey and all his friends might be in your neck of the woods next! They are headed to Nevada, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio and many more locations in October. You won’t want to miss this show!
Because we couldn’t be in Disneyland for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party this year, we were happy to have a little bit of Disney magic come to us. The one thing that Logan remembers from our last Disney trip? The Mickey Mouse pretzels. After the show, we made the yummiest cinnamon pretzels (in the shape of the mouse of course) for dessert. Not a fan of the cinnamon and sugar topping? Leave it off or add some sea salt with mustard dipping sauce. This recipe is easy enough for your kiddos to get in on the action. My 4 year old helped knead the dough and brush the butter on. They were soooo good!
Pretzel Ingredients:
1/4 oz active dry yeast package
1 cup warm water
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup bread flour
2 cups regular flour
2 cups hot water
2 tablespoons baking soda
Topping Ingredients:
1/2 cup melted butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon
Instructions: Mix and dissolve yeast packet in 1 cup warm water. Mix in brown sugar, sugar and salt until dissolved. Add in flour and bread flour. Knead until the dough feels smooth and stretchy, like elastic. Set dough aside and allow to rise for 30 minutes. While the dough is rising, preheat oven to 450 degrees and mix basking soda with 2 cups hot water. Once the dough has risen, form the Mickey Mouse pretzels by rolling out a piece of dough like a rope. Use smaller “rope” pieces for the ears and the larger pieces for the head. Attach the ears to the head by pinching the dough where they meet in the back. Dip in baking soda water and place on a greased oven pan. Bake for 8-10 minutes until golden brown. Once out of the oven, brush them with butter and dip them n the cinnamon/sugar mixture. Enjoy!
