While blog hopping, I ran into Emily’s blog and fell in love with her nursery – well actually a shared room for baby and big sister. This room is fresh and fun and oh so unique. You will love it! Emily sat down for a little Q&A awhile back and I’m excited to finally share the details behind this amazing room.

Q: What was the inspiration for Hadley and Kohen’s room?
A: Well, i knew that once my youngest was born, i would want him and his big sister to share a room…so i started scouring the internet for inspiration. my first stop was figuring out what the wall color would be. i found a picture of a living room with big stripes on the wall (similar to what their room looks like), and that became my inspiration for the rest of the room. because it’s a shared room, and a boy and a girl are in this room, i had to make it gender neutral as well. so, i threw in oranges and yellows to compliment the blue/teal on the walls.

Q: What was this room before it became a nursery?

A: Before hadley and kohen moved into this room, it belonged to my son, milo. the walls were a dark grey/blue color. painting it the teal/white striped brightened up this room so much!
Q: What’s your favorite thing in the room or about the room?
A: I love the pom-pom/lantern mobile. it’s so cheery. i also love all the pictures in there.

Q: What was your biggest challenge putting this space together?

A: Fitting lots of stuff in such a small space.

Q: What was your biggest splurge in the room?

A: Non-toxic and low VOC paint. this was important to us, so we splurged.

Q: Any decorating tips for parents-to-be starting this process?

A: Don’t be afraid to search the internet for inspiration, and to combine ideas that you find. there is so much out there, the possibilities are endless.
