Janelle, a Crafty Nest reader, recently emailed me the following question:
I follow your blog and was wondering if you have any crafty ideas that I could “borrow” for my parents 30th anniversary party. I’m looking for decoration and party favor ideas. Any help would be appreciated, but I understand that you have a new baby so if you can’t get to me, no worries. Thank you for your time.
Thanks for emailing me Janelle and congrats to your parents on 30 years! Mr. Crafty Nest and I recently celebrated our 3rd anniversary and we look forward to someday celebrating 30 years of marriage.
I think it would be fun to incorporate something that your parents enjoy doing together into the party. Maybe a golf themed party if they enjoy the greens or a coffee themed bash if they met in a coffee shop. For my dad’s 50th birthday, my mom and I hosted a casino themed party. I strung playing cards together with fishing line to use as garland and decorated in casino colors (red, black, green). If you can’t seem to come up with a “theme”, go with a color scheme.
I love this non-traditional guestbook that I found on Etsy and think that it would be the perfect way to celebrate family and marriage. Instead of signing a traditional guestbook, guests leave their thumb prints. The finished product is a beautiful family tree that can be framed and hung.

Be creative and think outside of the box. Oh and think eco-friendly as well – seed packets or reusable muslin bags make great party favors. Etsy seller Nature Favors makes really cool bird seed favors and plantable confetti. For more party inspiration, head on over to one of my fave blogs – Hostess With The Mostess. Can’t wait to hear all about your party!
