Here we go again, round 2 of mastitis. My boobs feel like they are going to implode. At this point I wouldn’t mind if they did implode so I never have to pump again. Ok, maybe I don’t wish implosion on my breasts but breastfeeding seriously sucks. I miss cheese and sleep and not having to plan my days around my pump schedule and especially cheese. The upside to all of my diet restrictions (no dairy, no spicy foods, no gassy foods, no fun) is that I’ve lost all of my baby weight plus more, although my hips still haven’t gotten that message (gotta love the post-baby body).
In chatting with my lactation consultant, I’m now thinking that I have oversupply issues. Who would have thought that too much milk would be an issue?! It would explain our breastfeeding issues, Logan’s colicky behavior and my recurring mastitis. The problem is that many of the solutions for oversupply involve not pumping as much and nursing more frequently – not possible for a baby who has never really caught on to breastfeeding.
Remind me again why I’m doing this. Oh yeah, this little guy right here…
