When my preterm baby arrived a month ahead of schedule, he still needed time in the womb or to at least feel like he was in the womb. He was a sleepy newborn (now I can’t get him to sleep) and we had a difficult time getting him back to his birth weight because he would fall asleep 2 seconds into every feeding. Sleepy Wrap sent me an organic wrap to review along with a link to the benefits of Kangaroo Care for preterm babies. I wore Logan pretty much every day – all day for the first couple months of his life. He slept so much better in the wrap, which helped conserve calories and gave him more energy to stay awake during feedings. I was also able to read his cues better when I wore him so I didn’t miss the opportunity to feed him. He’s now growing like a weed and I truly credit that to wearing him.
I still continue to wear him (I’m actually wearing him now). The wrap is pretty much the only thing that can calm my colicky baby down. I also love wearing him when we are out in public because I’ve noticed that people are less likely to want to touch him (yes, I’m a germaphobe) and he just sleeps the entire time. I’ve tried other wraps but the Sleep Wrap is by far my favorite wrap for a newborn. The fabric is super stretchy and securely clings to the baby, unlike other wraps. There is a slight learning curve when it comes to the wrap but once you’ve tied it a couple times you will become a pro and will be able to do it in your sleep – which comes in handy when your baby is crying at 3am! Someone asked me yesterday if I wrapped Logan in the wrap myself and was shocked when I told her that I did. I promise it is much easier than it looks.
So do I recommend the Sleep Wrap? YES!! The wrap is at the top of my must have list!
