Stop by our house and you are sure to hear shhh’ing…over and over and over again. Besides the vacuum cleaner and hair dryer (our child has a thing for appliances), “shhh’ing” has been the only thing that can calm our colicky little baby down. At around 3am, I’m all out of shhh’s and I’m not about to vacuum our bedroom so I was super excited (and grateful) when Cloud B sent me the Gentle Giraffe to review.
We’ve named our giraffe “Mr. Giraffe” (because we’re creative like that) and he keeps Logan company when I can’t possibly hum out another “shhh”. He plays 4 different sounds – Safari Groove, Safari Trail, Victoria Falls and Mother’s Heartbeat. Logan prefers Mother’s Heartbeat, which has a rhythmic tune to it like shhh’ing. He also likes Victoria Falls, which is basically white noise. I think he’ll appreciate the more musical sounds when he’s older. The Gentle Giraffe also has a timer feature that I appreciate, one less thing to have to remember to turn off.
Cloud B makes a travel sized version of the Gentle Giraffe, which we might have to invest in once we start traveling more often with our little guy. I love that a portion of your Gentle Giraffe purchase will go to an international wildlife organization. Cloud B also sells a Sleep Sheep and Dozy Dolphin to help lull your baby to sleep. This would make the perfect welcome gift for a new baby. Trust me, their exhausted parents will thank you!
