A big ol’ box of Nutrisystem food was waiting for me on my doorstep on Friday. EEK! Here we go. I’m signed up for the Nutrisystem Select program, which means I get 18 days worth of ready to go food (that I got to pick) and 10 days worth of gourmet frozen meals each month. The frozen meals are on their way, but I didn’t want to wait to start the program. I’m done with saying “tomorrow”. So, I broke open the box-o-food and officially started the program on Saturday.
I’ll admit that I honestly didn’t expect to actually like these foods. I mean, you don’t even have to refrigerate them. They are vacuum sealed and literally ready to go. How good could they really be? I know I’m only on day 3 of the program, but I can honestly say that I have enjoyed every single meal I’ve tried and nothing tasted remotely like cardboard (which is what I totally expected). I don’t know how they do it, but the food is actually GOOD and the ready to go foods are totally convenient. I’ve had the cinnamon bun, blueberry muffin, chocolate peanut butter bar, fudge graham bar, Italian herb flatbread pizza, chocolate cake and the double chocolate almond cookie. All seriously GOOD!
Did you catch that? I get CAKE on this program. Marie Antoinette would totally approve of this weight loss plan. Sadly, I’m not just eating cake all day but I do get to indulge my sweet tooth a little. I actually think that this is why this program works for so many people. It doesn’t totally restrict the sweets, it just gives you the right sized portion. In addition to the Nutrisystem foods that are sent to me, I pick up grocery additions like fruits and veggies that I load up on throughout the day. After just a few days, I feel like this program is already teaching me so much about portion control and what I should be eating – mostly fruits and veggies.
I’m not going to lie and say that this program is totally easy. Weight loss isn’t easy and quick fixes don’t work. Believe me, I’ve tried them. Nutrisystem has given me the tools I need to succeed, in the most convenient way possible, now it is up to me to do it. Day 3 and I’m doing great. I’m on week 6 of C25k and still pushing myself every week. I even added in an extra spinning workout on Sunday, my normal day off from the gym, and my endurance is improving. It is amazing what the body can do when you stop questioning it and just let it do its thing, I learned this from Logan’s birth.
