This week wasn’t the best workout week. I ended up taking a week off of C25k, which stinks, but I just didn’t have the energy. I caught whatever bug Logan caught from the kid who was coughing all over the gymboree equipment (ugh). After taking care of a sick child all day, while attempting to take care of myself at the same time, I was just too exhausted to run. I still managed to get to the gym a couple times for some light exercise and I took Logan out for a stroll a couple times, now that the weather is in the 90’s and tolerable. So, at least I wasn’t a complete couch potato this week.

Seeing as how I didn’t workout out as much as I normally do, I totally expected the scale to show it. Wrong. I’ve lost 5lbs since starting Nutrisystem a week ago! Well, factoring in the daily 3lb fluctuation and I’ve lost at least 2lbs for sure. I’ll take it! I feel “lighter”, well less bloated, now that I’m eating better. Just changing my diet for a week, without even really working out, totally made the difference. Instead of a bowl of cereal for breakfast, I’ll scramble an egg and this helps keep me full longer. Instead of a big plate of carbs for lunch, my plate is mostly covered with a yummy salad. At dinner, my plate is loaded with veggies and I find myself serving more veggies to my family now that I’m eating more.

I’m a little nervous about our upcoming vacation to Disneyland. I won’t have my well planned out meals with me and we’ll be eating out. I’m going to try hard to stick with the program as much as I can while we’re on our trip. I won’t have my perfectly portioned nutrisystem meals with me, but I can hopefully just eat a small portion of whatever I order and box up the rest or share with Logan. Normally I would say that vacation is a free for all, splurge and binge all you want, but I feel like I’m just getting started and I really don’t want to go backward. Wish me luck, I’ll need it in the happiest place on earth (did you know that those Disney turkey legs contain 1,092 calories each? holy cow).

Any tips for eating healthy while on vacation?
