You know what that means? It means that it’s time to start planning for Logan’s 2nd birthday! Just kidding, sorta (I may or may not be pinning birthday ideas on pinterest already). Seriously though, it means that I’ve survived parenthood for an entire year and a half. There were some days I truly questioned survival, especially in the newborn colicky phase. I’m happy to report that it gets better. It got more than better actually.

This is by far my favorite age with Logan. I’m loving every minute of it, well most minutes. I could do without the teething, the molars and incisors suck. We’ve had our fair share of terrible two previews, but I can still say that this age rocks! I know most moms say this, but Logan really is the smartest, funniest, most loving, imaginative toddler I know. He has a big giant personality for such a little guy and it has been so much fun seeing it emerge.

When I found out I was having a boy, my boy-mom friends told me that I would love being the mom to a boy. I didn’t quite get what they meant. I honestly didn’t have a gender preference but I was well prepared to share my prissiness with a girl. My dad and husband are obviously boys, but I didn’t have the first clue in how to raise one from scratch. I never planned on raising my children according to society’s gender roles, but even so there are differences between girls and boys. My world has transformed from heels and makeup to overalls and grass stains. I’m loving it.

Allow me to brag on my kid for a moment and share why I love this age so much right now. Logan is such a loving and sensitive soul. It melts my heart when he runs across the room just to give me a kiss or hug. Watching him tenderly feed and care for his baby dolls (yes, our son plays with dolls) gives me a little sneak peek at the type of father he’s going to be someday. Right now he’s into animals and can quack and roar like nobody’s business. His vocabulary is expanding by the second and I’m just amazed and baffled at times at how much he actually comprehends. Logan’s imagination and creativity is in full swing at the moment. He has these long drawn out conversation on his play phone or he will cook something in his play kitchen and pretend to stir and eat. Being his mama is amazing.

Bring on the “terrible” two’s…I’m looking forward to them!
