I inherited 2 step-furbabies that came along with Mr. Crafty Nest, Chyna and Sparkles. While Chyna is very much a daddy’s girl, Sparkles (Formerly known as Sparky. Yes, I changed her name) is my cat. Actually, she’s now Logan’s cat…or he’s her human. She sleep in front of his door at night, acting as a guard cat, and is by his side throughout the day. Logan’s second word was “Kitty” (after “Mama” and before “Papa”) and he just started saying “Sparkles”, which sounds more like “Sarkl”. The bond they have is very sweet. Chyna, on the other hand, wants nothing to do with Sparkle’s human.

Our once very spoiled furbabies have naturally taken a backseat to our child. Don’t get me wrong, Chyna and Sarkl’s are still very spoiled but kids tend to require more care than pets. When we recently took Sparkles in to see the vet (poor thing had an abscess), we realized that their pet carrier had seen better days. It was purchased by Mr. Crafty Nest, at least a decade ago, and was just plain boring and ugly. I could have put up with boring and ugly (maybe), but one of the zippers was broken and the carrier would tilt to one side when the shoulder strap was worn. You try getting a cat to stay in a tiny little pet carrier with a broken zipper and a tilted carrier. We needed a new carrier.I ran into Sleepypod recently and discovered their modern Atom pet carriers. They so kindly sent me the blossom pink carrier to review and I was smitten with the design. Unlike our old carrier, this carrier allows you to unzip the top so you can easily place your pet inside without having to stuff her into a small side hole. Another great feature is that the shoulder straps connect to opposite ends of the carrier, so it won’t tilt when you are wearing it. These Sleepypod people know what they are doing! When I put Sparkles inside the Atom, she actually stayed inside of it for a good hour. I would say that’s a win.
