I have the oh so adorable Lindsay of Southern Lovely on the blog today, sharing her Crafting On A Dime tutorial. She’s going to show us how to make a super cute mustard (yay!) accent pillow out of a place mat. I actually picked up this exact place mat at Target when it was on sale a couple months back and use it as a photo prop. After seeing Lindsay’s pillow, I’m thinking I might just need to turn my place mat into a super cute accent pillow. I’ll let Lindsay take over from here…
Well hello there! I am so excited to be in Vanessa’s space today. Such a lovely site she has here! I’m Lindsay, and I blog over at Southern Lovely. Being a busy mom of three, crafting is sometimes hard to come by. I love a good DIY, painting or sewing project. I usually do my best work after the kids have gone to bed. Today I am going to share an inexpensive way to make an accent pillow.
One day as I was browsing through Target, I came across this adorable place mat. It was on clearance for under $3, so I knew I just had to pick it up. I wondered if it could be turned into a pillow, since the color would look awesome in my front room.
So I bought it, and here’s what I did…
Materials
Place mat
Poly-Fil
(Sewing Machine)
Directions
Step 1: Fold the place mat in half, right sides together, then stitch all of the sides but one. Press the seam open, then flip it right-side out.
Step 2: Stuff the pillowcase with Poly-Fil, making it nice & fluffy.
Step 3: Stitch the open end closed.
Step 4: Yeah, it’s really that easy. Gotta love Target clearance section! And I think it fits in well with the rest of my pillows.
Thanks for letting me post here today! And please feel free to stop by & say hi, I love meeting new friends!
