(buff mama monday) the running store, part 2

That’s right, I braved another running store. It was a sad day having to say goodbye to my oh so cute aqua shoes. They saw me through my first 5k, a mud run, a bootcamp, a color run and we had a good time while it lasted. It was me, not them. My feet just can’t take running 3+ miles every other day in minimal support.

Some of you will be happy to know, especially those who I received hate (e)mail from (siding with Mr. Running Store Guy), that comfort won out over fashion. My new shoes aren’t totally ugly. I mean, they are still a bright and cheery yellow. They just weren’t my first pick according to looks. When I ran in my new yellow shoes on the store treadmill, my feet were in running heaven. THIS is what non-aching feet feel like. I’m super excited to break them in tomorrow!

Speaking of breaking in, I decided to go with my 20 week training program. We’ll just see how it goes and I can change it up later on if necessary. Slow and steady has always been my approach to running, so I’ll take the same approach to training. Last week was officially my first week and it was rough. I blame part of it on my shoes and part of it on my trip to Vegas for bloggy bootcamp. I packed my running shoes and Nutrisystem food, but it’s so difficult for me to stick with it while I’m out of town. I managed to log a few miles on Sunday but did nothing on Saturday (if you don’t count walking the strip), better than nothing.

This is a new week and I’m ready to go! Thank you so much for your encouragement, I honestly don’t think I would have signed up to run a half marathon without it!

The fine print: Nutrisystem is providing their food and program to me for free, as part of the Nutrisystem Nation Blogger Program. 1. I’m excited to see what shoes you ended up getting. Come on, we all know how much running shoes cost, so it’s ok to brag about them!
