(tot school tuesday) wooden bird feeder craft kit

July 2, 2013 By Vanessa 12 Comments

Disclosure: I was not financially compensated for this post. The kit was provided free by CraftProjectIdeas.com and Horizon Group USA for review purposes. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience.

If you haven’t heard me complain about the weather here in Arizona yet, it’s HOT HOT HOT! Summertime here in Arizona means you are either inside or in a pool, which isn’t so much fun when you have a toddler to entertain all day. I’m sure most of you cold weather folk can sympathize when you are snowed in and the kids are restless. Luckily, Logan and I were sent a fun wood garden craft set to help ease us into triple temps.

Many of my friends who read my blog always comment on how they wish they were creative or had the time to put together a craft activity for their kids. That’s what makes these craft kits are so awesome, everything you need to be creative is right there in the box ready to go! No time spent scouring the craft store trying to decide which supplies will be age appropriate for your kiddo. Just grab a box and start creating!

This particular wood garden kit included materials to build a wind chime, bird house, windmill bird house and bird feeder. It even came with stuff to decorate those creations! We worked on the bird feeder for our first project from this kit and it was simple and fun to create together. It states that it’s for ages 6+, but I just built the projects ahead of time (no hammer or nails required) and my 3 year old painted his little heart out. I’m always amazed at how calming painting is for him. I helped embellish the bird feeder with the gems and glitter glue that was included in the kit. The perfect activity for working on those fine motor skills!

Tot School is all about encouraging creative play in your children, because kids learn and communicate through play. I recommend getting in there with your kids, picking up a paint brush and learning how to play again as an adult. You might just find crafting with your kiddos to be incredibly relaxing and therapeutic. We can’t wait until our little bird feeder dries so we can add bird food and hang it outside (another great nature lesson)!

Win It: Craftprojectideas.com is giving away a 4 in 1 Wood Garden Set (kits can be purchased at Walmart stores). This giveaway is open to US residents, 18 years or older and with a non-PO box address. Giveaway runs through 7/23, midnight PST. Please leave an email address.

To Enter – simply leave a comment telling me what you look forward to doing the most with your kiddos this summer.

I'm Vanessa and it's my mission in life to spread my love of hot glue guns and glitter to others. I suffer from craft ADHD, regularly working on at least 10 projects at the same time and my craft room looks like a tornado hit it. My first craft book, Party in a Jar, was published in 2014. I look forward to crafting with you!

Love crafting with my 8yr old granddaughter. We have been crafting ever since she could hold a crayon. She loves glitter, beading and painting. We just finished tying balloons on our flip-flops. Today we design clothes for paper dolls. I think I will teach her scrap booking this summer. Gives her something of our time we spent over her summer vacation.

I love studying nature with my nephew, when there are no time limitations and we can watch an ant walk across the lawn for as much time as it takes.

My son has turned into a total water bug this summer and spending time swimming in Nana’s pool has been the best! I love getting able to spend time outside with my little guy.

I love spending time with my son. We make at least one project every week. His favorite so far is the string of cheerios to feed the birds. He is excited to help me come up with craft ideas for our upcoming vbs.
