Hello, friends! I’m super excited to be participating in this fun Halloween series!
Halloween is my second favorite holiday to decorate and create for (Christmas is first!) so I’m so glad Vanessa asked me over.
Today I am going to show you how to make these fun and simple Jack-o-lantern treat jars!
Before we get to the craft, let me quickly introduce myself.
My name is Michele, and I create over at The Scrap Shoppe.
I dabble in a little bit of everything… paper crafts, jewelry, home decor – I’m a little eclectic!
Now on to the fun stuff!
To make these Jack-o-lantern treat jars you need just a few supplies:
Jars (I like the quilted jars for this project)
green spray paint
black felt
Pumpkin Spice Hershey Kisses (or some other orange candy)
glue
scissors
Spray paint the lids of the jars green.
Fill the jars with the Hershey Kisses. The Pumpkin Spice Kisses are perfect for this with their orange wrapping.
Cut Jack-o-lantern faces out of the black felt and glue them to the jars.
You can stop here, or continue on by adding a decorative stem to the top of the jars.
I scoured my backyard for a twig of just the right width to look right on the jars.
When I found it, I cut it into ~2.5″ pieces. One end I cut flat and the other end slanted to look more pumpkin stem-ish. I sanded the twig so the ends would be smooth. I also sanded the sides to remove any excess debris that might be holding on to the twig. Hot glue the flat end of the twig to the center of the jar lid.
You may also want to add some raffia or ribbon to the base of the “stem” for decorative effect.
For the smallest jar I simply added two triangle eyes due to its short size.
I think it still gives the jack-o-lantern effect.
Halloween decorations (or any decorations for that matter) with treats in them is always good with me!
Wouldn’t these make cute teacher or neighbor Halloween gifts?
They would be super fun to pass around!
Thanks so much for having me be a part of this fun series, Vanessa!
I would love to have y’all come visit me sometime.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
