With the holidays quickly approaching (hello Christmas carols on the radio), it’s time to think about holiday baking. You’ll want to stock up on Land O’ Lakes butter, which can be found at Walmart in the refrigerated section. I used their unsalted sweet butter sticks for this holiday recipe and I love the hint of sweetness it added to the popcorn. This festive recipe is quick and easy. No baking involved. Plus, it makes a large batch so you can easily divide it up into 1/2 pint mason jars and gift as gifts to your neighbors or co-workers. My son’s teachers might just be getting an early holiday treat. So, throw on some holiday music and get cooking!
Ingredients
1/3 cup popcorn kernels
1/4 cup Land O’ Lakes Unsalted Sweet Butter
10 oz bag Andes Peppermint Baking Chips
8 candy cane
You’ll also need: parchment paper, rolling pin, freezer bag
Directions
Step 1: Pop 1/3 popcorn kernels according to package. Pour 1/4 cup melted Land O’ Lakes Unsalted Sweet Butter over popcorn and toss until evenly coated.
Step 2: Melt Andes Peppermint Baking Chips in microwave for 30 second increments, mixing in between, until melted. Pour over popcorn and mix until evenly coated. Spread popcorn out on a piece of parchment paper to dry.
Step 3: Place 8 candy canes in a freezer bag and break into pieces using a rolling pin. Sprinkle over popcorn.
Step 4: Allow popcorn to dry and then enjoy!
