Tis’ the season for holiday baking and I couldn’t be more excited! There’s nothing I love more than baking homemade cookies and treats with my kids. Memories of Christmas with my own mom always include memories of spending hours in the kitchen baking together. We’d chat and laugh until the flour ran out. It was quality time together and I look forward to making those same memories with my children. My little helpers had a blast making these M&M’s® Oatmeal Cookie Bars with me. They are less work than traditional cookies, perfect for kids to help with, and just as yummy (if not more)! I love the festive red and green M&M’s®!
1 cup butter (softened)
1 2/2 cups brown sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 3/4 cups flour
2 cups Original Instant Quaker Oats
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 bag M&M’s® Holiday Baking Minis
You’ll also need:
Glad® Holiday Containers, Yarn, Pom Pom Maker, Scissors, Hot Glue Gun
Step 1: Head to Target and pick up your ingredients! Check the holiday aisles for M&M’s® Holiday Baking Minis and Glad® Holiday Containers!
Step 2: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter and brown sugar together, mixing until smooth and fluffy.
Step 3: Add vanilla, eggs, flour, Quaker Oats and baking soda. Mix until smooth and fully combined.
Step 4: Fold in M&M’s® Holiday Baking Minis. Save 1/3 cup of M&M’s®.
Step 5: Press into an ungreased cake pan or jelly roll pan. Press remaining M&M’s® Holiday Baking Minis on the top of the batter. Bake for 20-30 minutes or until the center is fully cooked and the cookie bars are golden brown.
Step 6: While cookie bars are baking, create pom pom gift toppers. Use a pom pom maker to create at least 3 pom poms. Tie the pom poms together. Hot glue to the top of the Glad® holiday container.
Step 7: Allow to cool and cut into bars. Place in the Glad® holiday container and give as a gift or enjoy! These containers make homemade gift giving super easy!
