One of my all time favorite desserts is dulce de leche cheesecake. It tastes like creamy caramel on top of cheesecake and it’s seriously so delicious! If you haven’t tried dulce de leche, get on it! I have a no bake cheesecake recipe for you that’s super easy to make and doesn’t even require you to turn on the oven. I’ll also show you how to make homemade dulce de leche from a can of sweetened condensed milk. My grandma showed me how to make my own dulce de leche when I was younger and I’ll never buy store bought again. Some of my favorite memories are of cooking in the kitchen with my grandmother and she always let me lick the spoon after we mixed up the can of dulce de leche! You can also try Post’s Dulce de Leche Cheesecake recipe (this one you bake), which is what inspired my no bake version. Their Mexican Hot Chocolate Cocoa Pebbles Crunch Cookies recipe also looks yum!
INGREDIENTS
3 pkg. (8 oz. each) cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup dulce de leche (or make your own with 1 can sweetened condensed milk)
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup thawed whipped topping
Honey Bunches of Oats Cereal
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: You can buy a can of dulce de leche in most grocery stores or make your own (my preference)! Peel the label off of the can of sweetened condensed milk and place in a large pot filled with water. Bring to a boil and let simmer on low for 2 1/2 hours. Make sure the water level stays at least an inch above the top of the can at all times. Remove from water with tongs. Allow can to come to room temperature and your dulce de leche is ready to use!
Step 2: Beat cream cheese and 1/4 cup sugar in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended.
Step 3: Add dulce de leche and sour cream. Blend well.
Step 4: Divide dulce de leche mixture into 3 wide mouth, pint sized jars. Top jars with whipped topping.
Step 5: Sprinkle with Honey Bunches of Oats Cereal. the Honey Bunches of Oats Cereal is a yummy combination of crispy flakes, crunchy granola oat bunches and a touch of honey. Don’t omit this step!
Step 6: Add a couple spoons and share with your favorite person! You can also put the mixture into smaller jars for individual serving sizes.
Have you ever tried dulce de leche? I’d love to hear what your favorite recipe is!
