I remember living in a dorm for my freshman year at college, my first time away from home. It’s such a transitional year in life, with all the added responsibilities and freedom. I had an amazing time in undergrad, but I still got homesick. A lot. Care packages from home would brighten my day and ease the homesickness. Many students will be heading back to school and moving into the dorms this month, so I thought I’d show you how to create a Ghostbusters (in theaters now!) themed care package for a college student. You may also want to include a couple tickets to see the new Ghostbusters movie in the care package. Who they gonna call? They better call mom lol!
MATERIALS
Shipping Box
Slime Box Label
Slime Can Label
Slime Can (approximately 3oz)
Scissors
Double Sided Tape
M&M’s®, SNICKERS®, Milky Way® Candy
Cello Bags
Care Package Items (socks, toiletries, pencils, etc.)
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Head to Walmart and purchase M&M’s® Milk Chocolate Bottle (look for the Ghostbusters bottle in the checkout aisles), Mixed Mini Variety Bag, M&M’s® Peanut 42 oz. and SNICKERS® Mixed Mini Bags. Pick up the rest of your supplies and care package items while you are there! Keep an eye out for the in store coupon with savings of $0.75 off 1 M&M’s® Bottle, good through September 30th.
Step 2: Print out the slime can label and slime box label.
Step 3: Cut out the slime can labels and attach to the can of slime using double sided tape. Write in your phone number on the label.
Step 4: Place the candy in cello bags. Save the rest for future care packages (and sneak a few pieces for yourself)!
Step 5: Gather the rest of the care package contents. I like including things that college students wouldn’t think to buy for themselves – socks, a new toothbrush, toothpaste, razors, shaving cream, deodorant, body wash, pencils, etc. I also like including something fun – CANDY and slime!
Step 6: Place all the care package contents in the shipping box. Attach the slime box printables to the inner flaps with double sided tape. You’ll have to trim them down to size. Seal the box and send off to your college student!
