easy-football-cheerleader-costume-tutorial-for-halloween-or-game-day

Craft up an easy football shirt or cheerleader costume for game day! This tutorial would also be great for a last minute, easy Halloween costume. No sewing skills necessary, the football shirt is made using a little fabric dye and Scotch® Expressions Glitter Tape. Add a pair of pom poms and a green tutu for a homemade cheerleader costume. After watching the cheerleaders preform at a local football game, my littlest was thrilled with this DIY costume!

MATERIALS

white shirt
brown liquid fabric dye
Scotch® Expressions White Glitter Tape
green tutu
pretend play pom poms
Scotch® Expressions Green & Gold Glitter Tape

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Head to the craft aisle at Walmart to pick up Scotch® Expressions Glitter Tape and other supplies! Glitter tape is a must have in my craft stash, it is so versatile and can be used for so many fun projects. It’s also a very functional supply to have on hand. I love Scotch™ Brand for all of my sticky tools that allow me to get hands on crafty!

Step 2: Dye the white shirt using liquid fabric dye. Follow the directions on the package. If you have a top loading washer, you can dye your pieces directly in your washing machine. If not, you can dye them in the sink. Rinse well and dry.

Step 3: Place a long strip of Scotch® Expressions White Glitter Tape down the center of the shirt, as shown below.

Step 4: Add smaller 2-3 inch pieces of Scotch® Expressions White Glitter Tape crossing over the longer strip, as shown below. This is to look like football laces.

Step 5: Wrap the pretend play pom pom handles with Scotch® Expressions Glitter Tape. I used green and gold, but you can use your team colors of choice!

Step 6: Put the shirt on and add a green tutu, to look like the football turf. Have fun cheering on your team!
