DIY: Rustic Living Room Makeover Mood Board

Remember how difficult it was for me to choose a paint color for my coral and aqua bathroom makeover? I’m back to staring at paint swatches for our living room makeover, which I plan on tackling next year. My living room walls are currently builder beige and I’m ready for a change! I want to brighten up our home with a light gray color. I’m leaning toward the Glacial Ice color above. It looks almost white, but has the slightest hint of gray. It’s also not too blue and not too brown. Grays are hard y’all! Luckily, with the help of the Olympic® Paint Visualizer tool, I was able to digitally try out colors and narrow down my color choices. I plan on heading to Lowes and picking up paint samples (available for a minimal fee) of each to try them out in person.  

We built our home almost 8 years ago and without any sort of personal style, we purchased ALL THE BROWN. Brown couches, brown entertainment center, brown coffee table, brown end tables, brown throw pillows, brown walls – brown, brown, brown! What can I say, espresso was trendy back then lol. I’m ready to break free from all the brown! I also now have a better sense of my personal decorating style, which I call “industrial meets farmhouse rustic”. All that espresso is getting donated and I’ll be adding in more interesting, non-matchy wood textures and metals. I like to add in color through pillows or chairs, things that are easily replaced if my taste in color changes.
