When I’m in party planning mode, my first (and usually only) stop is Walmart. They have everything you’d ever need to plan a fabulous birthday party. Food, party supplies, decorations, cakes, gifts – they have it all! Before I even pick a theme, I head to Walmart for ideas. The party aisle was filled with many cute themes, including Disney Cars, Beauty and the Beast, Lego Batman, and Paw Patrol. It was a tough decision!
My kids are obsessed with Moana. Obsessed. Now that the Blu-ray (which can also be found at Walmart) is out, we watch it daily. Sometimes twice a day. After spotting faux hibiscus flowers near the party aisle, I knew we’d be planning a Moana birthday party! My kids happily helped me brainstorm ideas as we walked through Walmart.
First stop was the bakery, where they have a book full of cupcake and cake ideas. They had cute Moana themed cupcakes with toy rings, but I opted for a simple vanilla cupcake with white frosting and asked the bakery to add a dusting of yellow sugar. They were ready by the time I finished shopping for my other party supplies! I also found mini coconut donuts in the bakery and scooped those up.
With cupcakes and donuts in hand, I wanted one more treat for our Moana festivities. I knew my clam shell cookies would be a hit and the best part is that they are semi-homemade and you can find all of the ingredients at Walmart. Grab a bag of swirl cookies, some blue frosting and an edible pearl. Sandwich the frosting between two cookies and stick a pearl inside. Super easy and very cute!
For our savery option, I made Tamatoa crab croissants. I picked up ready made butter croissants from the bakery and added googly eyes attached to toothpicks, to look like crab eyes. Super easy and if you are planning a party around lunchtime, you could also pick up a meat tray from the deli for croissant sandwiches.
One of my many party tricks, when I need an easy party decoration, is to fill glass containers with party snacks or decor. I grabbed lemon drops from the candy aisle and goldfish from the cracker aisle. I found decorative sand and shells in the craft aisle. Walmart really does have EVERYTHING! It’s so nice being able to put together a party, that isn’t super expensive, all at one store.

You didn’t say where you got the plastic coconut cups!
I actually had them from a previous party, but check any party supply store 🙂
