I got to review the Best Bottom system during last year’s Cloth Diaper Week, and I’m excited to give you a more hands on review this time around. This is one of my favorite cloth diapering systems, and one I recommend to friends who are looking for a hassle free option on a budget. I also recommend this diaper to mamas who are looking for a husband/significant other friendly diaper that it still rated high on the scale of cuteness. Mr. Crafty Nest is a big fan of the Best Bottom diaper system for hassle-free/moola-saving reasons.
The Best Bottom system consists of a shell and inserts (stay dry or hemp/organic). There is no folding or stuffing involved with this diaper. You simply snap the insert into the shell and put it on your baby (see what I mean by husband friendly?). You can reuse the shell with a new insert for the next diaper change, which I like to do for on the go diapering because inserts don’t take up that much space in the diaper bag.
The Best Bottom waterproof shell is one size and can be snapped to fit different sizes. I always question the whole “one size” thing, I mean babies grow out of clothes in the blink of an eye so how in the world can a diaper truly fit from birth to potty learning (or 35ish lbs). This one does (well, I can at least vouch until 10 months with lots of room to grow). We’re not even on the largest setting yet and my big boy is over 20lbs now. You can see a Best Bottom diaper on Logan at 14 weeks (in Mint Chocolate Chip) and then at 10 months (in Orange Sherbert) in the pictures in this post.
The Best Bottom diaper now comes in 14 different prints/colors and is available in snaps or hook & loop (velcro). You could essentially purchase 8-10 shells and 18-24 inserts per size (there are 3 sizes) and that is all you need to start diapering. I think the most challenging thing about cloth diapering is figuring out which system to go with, Best Bottom makes it easy. Not only is it a simple system to use, it is a GOOD system – I haven’t experienced any leaks (love the leg gussets and absorbent inserts) and the material is durable so it will hold up through many diaper changes.
