It wasn’t until recently that I was introduced to the wonderful (and addicting) world of WAHM (Work At Home Mom) diapers. There is something special about knowing that another mama, to support her family, made your diaper. Monkey Toe Diapers is ran by WAHM Susan, mama of a 5 year old and seamstress extraordinaire. Susan recently sent me a Nykibaby one size pocket diaper in blue jay to review. This diaper typically fits a baby from 8lbs to 40lbs, Logan is a little over 20 lbs right now and there is still room to grow. The best thing about these diapers is that they are customizable. You decide the snap color and wicking layer (the darker wicking layers she offers would hide poo stains well). She has some super cute prints in her shop right now, including an adorable pirate diaper that I have my eye on. I’m officially a new fan of these WAHM diapers, they fit Logan great and come with all of the benefits of a one size pocket diaper (ability to increase absorbency, quicker drying time than AIO’s, will grow with baby, etc.)
Monkey Toe Diapers also offers 3 different insert choices – micro fiber, cottom/bamboo tri-fold or hemp/bamboo tri-fold. I reviewed a hemp/bamboo tri-fold and absolutely love how absorbent these inserts are. They are made up of 2 layers of bamboo fleece and 1 layer of hemp fleece, so when folded it is 9 layers of absorbent fabric. My super soaker baby tested out the 9 layers during nap time and woke up leak free. Besides being leak free, these hemp/bamboo inserts don’t hold a stench like microfiber sometimes does. I have to say that this is one of my favorite inserts out there.
