On the 4th day of Christmas…
Lindsay of Southern Lovely shows us how to make scrappy burlap trees. I absolutely adore Lindsay’s blog and I’m a long time reader. Check out her clay rose necklace and painted shoes tutorials and you’ll see why I love her blog so much. I’m beyond excited that she is spreading her craftiness around these parts of the Internets! I have a little thing for burlap at the moment and absolutely adore these crafty little trees that she whipped up!

Hello there! I am so excited to be apart of this fun series on Vanessa’s fabulous blog! I’m Lindsay from Southern Lovely. I love a good DIY & any fun project where I can be creative! And being able to make things for less is what I strive to do. I am also the mom of three busy little ones, so finding time to create can be a bit of a challenge. I love to inspire others & share any great tips that I know!

I enjoy how Christmas decor is so bright & happy. One thing I am really loving lately, is the little mini-trees that I see everywhere. From felt to yarn to buttons, I love them all. I decided to make a scrappy burlap one, and I really love how it turned out. Here we go…

Materials

Tree form–bought mine at Michaels
Burlap–two colors
Hot glue gun & glue sticks

Directions
Step 1: You will need to cut lots & lots of circles out of your burlap. I suggest doing this while you are watching a movie or something stored up on your DVR. It’s kind of time consuming, not going to lie. 🙂 The circle can be any size you’d like, mine was about 3 inches.

Step 2: Once you have all your circles cut, you will need to fold & glue, like the pictures below show.

Step 3: Now you are ready to glue them on your tree This part is actually not that time consuming. Just add a strip of glue, and put a bunch on at a time. After the first line is done, you will want to a cut out & glue on a strip of burlap to add under the bottom triangles. It will make for a more finished look.

Step 4: Keep going until your color section is complete, then move on to the next color, and repeat to the top.

And that is all there is to these scrappy burlap trees! Cute & festive, perfect for the holidays! Enjoy!
