Pre-Logan, I really didn’t question what was in my shampoo or lotion. I didn’t pay attention to how it impacting my health or the environment. I really just didn’t care or know any better. Once we started thinking about starting a family, I dove into researching all things baby – including what was in my shampoo and lotion. Thanks to infertility, I had a lot of time to research.

My husband and I were appalled at what we found out. Why were we putting cancer causing ingredients on our body?! We went through a major product overhaul and started reading ingredient lists. If we couldn’t pronounce the ingredients listed on the back of the bottles, we didn’t want it on our skin or in our home and we definitely didn’t want it on our brand new baby. That’s also what got us started on cloth diapering.

Since childhood, my husband has had significant asthma issues. We found that many of the products we were using caused his asthma flair up. Who knew that simple household items like detergent and hand soap could make asthma worse. It makes sense though because not only are those ingredients directly touching his skin, but he’s also constantly breathing them in. With Logan being at risk for asthma like his pop, we started paying even closer attention to the products we used in our home.

I was recently introduced to The Honest Company, a company who specialized in safe and sustainable products for children and the home. As a craft blogger and a mom, I create a lot of stuff for my kiddo. It’s important to me to have eco-friendly, safe products on hand in my craft space – where my child also plays and creates. I always keep hand soap and lotion in my drawers for a quick clean up, and I feel inspired reaching for a product from a company like The Honest Company. It encourages me to be much more green friendly in my work. I’m a huge fan of upcycling instead of just tossing in the landfill.

I’m not perfect, but I don’t think you have to be to make a difference in your home or in the environment. Little changes make a big different and I love companies that make those changes easier to make.

The Honest Company was started by a mom and a dad who, like many modern parents, were increasingly worried about products made with questionable chemical ingredients. But the alternatives they found were often expensive, inaccessible, bland, or ineffective. In response to this clear need for something better, they created The Honest Company to ensure that parents (or anyone for that matter!) could easily find natural and non-toxic eco-friendly products that are beautiful, effective, and affordable. From customized product bundles to diapers and wipes to an ever-expanding line of cleaning and personal care products, you can find everything you need at Honest.com and have it delivered directly to your front door.
