We are giving my almost 4 year old’s room a little big boy makeover. Logan’s woodland creature nursery transitioned well into toddlerhood, but now he has all sorts of opinions about how his big boy room should look and I’m going with his vision. My mini-paleontologist wants DINOSAURS. Lots and lots of dinosaurs. Of course. We’ll be keeping the grey walls and painting over the blue with some chalkboard paint, because what little boy wouldn’t want to be able to have permission to draw on their wall! I found a huge tyrannosaurus rex head that I’ll be mounting above his bed and we have a few other surprises in store for him. I can’t wait to show you the reveal. In the meantime, here’s a little sneak peek of Logan’s new DIY dino nightlight that is going in his room. Sharpie’s new paint pens that I found at Michaels rock my world and made this project super easy and fun to do! Be on the lookout for great deals on Sharpie Paint Markers at michaels.com.
Materials
Sharpie Paint Markers
Push Night Light
Adhesive Vinyl
Painters Tape
Directions
Step 1: Cut a dinosaur shape out of the adhesive vinyl. I used my Cricut Explore, but you can use scissors or even craft punches to make different shapes.
Step 2: Tape off the outer ring of the push light with painters tape.
Step 3: Give your Sharpie paint pen a few shakes and start painting until the entire white area is covered.
Step 4: Allow to dry (these pens dry super fast!) and then peel off the vinyl and tape. Enjoy your new nightlight!
I demonstrated how to do this kid-friendly craft on a recent episode of Your Life A to Z on 3TV. You can watch the entire episode here (I’m at around 14:40):
