I am a Step2 Ambassador and am partnering with The Step2 Company for the following review of the Grand Luxe Kitchen. I received a product in exchange for my review and honest opinion.

I’m a huge fan of toys that encourage good old fashioned creative play. The Step2 Company creates just that and recently released the Grande Luxe Kitchen, a dream play kitchen. When I had the opportunity to visit The Step2 Company headquarters in Ohio with my fellow mom bloggers, they spent a lot of time asking us what we’d love to see in a play kitchen. They absolutely listened to our wish list. This toy kitchen is better than my REAL kitchen lol!

The Grand Luxe Kitchen is completely modernized, with a trendy backsplash and farm-style sink. It also has a pretend pull down faucet, pretend smart phone and a k-cup coffee maker (watch Amelia make a “spiced latte” in our video review). The oven and refrigerator also have working lights. Can the Step2 toy designers come remodel my kitchen? My toddler loves that she can pop popcorn and blend her green juice on the magic burner, which creates realistic sound and movement. I especially love the play food, which can be “cut” in half and reattached with velcro.

Play kitchens have a long play life, making them great Christmas or birthday gifts. This is the one toy that BOTH my 3 and 6 year old run to and happily play with together. My son’s kindergarten teacher mentioned that kids are coming to her without the necessary fine motor skills, developed by play, to be able to write or cut with scissors. This kitchen has so many fine motor skill opportunities, like knob turning and scooping. I also created a play dough mat, which can be used with the kitchen, for additional fine motor skill building.

To make your own laminated play dough mat, you’ll need the What’s for Dinner Printable and a self laminating sheet or laminator. Click on the image below and print it out on card stock. Laminate the page using a self laminating sheet or laminator. Put out a few cans of play-doh or make your own play dough. Your child can follow the “what’s for dinner” prompt on the sheet and use the play dough to create “dinner”. They can also use the pretend food from the Step2 Grand Luxe Kitchen with the mat.
