Before walking the red carpet at the #ThorRagnarokEvent, I spent the evening in Disneyland and Disney California Adventure to celebrate the upcoming In-Home release of CARS 3 (available on Digital 10/24 and Blu-ray 11/7) . The parks were decked out for Halloween and Cars Land got a spooky “Haul-O-Ween” makeover for the first time. Everything was darling, I can’t wait to return with my kids! Cars Land typically offers some of the best Disney food around, so I couldn’t wait to check out their Halloween themed snacks and treats.
Look for a Car-achnid Pot Pie (chicken pot pie with dried cranberries and butter-crust spider), Grape “Ghoul”-ant Shake and Mini Candy Cone Pie (a cream pie with vanilla, butterscotch and white chocolate pudding) at Flo’s V-8 Café. You can get Vampire Mater Bread at Fillmore’s Taste-In. The Cozy Cone Motel offers Slow Burnin’ Mac & Cheese Cone (fresh-cooked pasta with spicy red pepper cheese sauce topped with crushed chile-cheese puffs served in a Black Cauldron Cone), Spoke-y Cone Macaron (filled with marshmallow buttercream and candy corn) and Junkyard JamBOOree Mix (choice of flavored popcorn with optional “nuts and bolts” candy).
I tried the Mini Candy Cone Pie and I loved the mix of vanilla, butterscotch and white chocolate. I knew I had to try making it at home. After some experimenting and a couple kitchen fails, I think I got this Cars Land inspired recipe just right. This dessert would be perfect for a Halloween party or to enjoy while watching CARS 3 on Blu-ray! Here’s the Disney version (keep reading for my version):
INGREDIENTS (yields 4 mini pies)
3.4oz vanilla instant pudding
3.5oz butterscotch instant pudding (half package)
3.3oz white chocolate instant pudding (half package)
4 cups heavy whipping cream
yellow food coloring
orange food coloring
4 mini pie crusts
candy corn
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Add the entire package of vanilla instant pudding, 2 cups of heavy whipping cream and 5-10 drops of yellow food dye to a mixer. Mix on low until a thick, mousse consistency forms.
Step 2: Add the yellow cream to a piping bag and use a large round tip to pipe it into the mini pie crusts.
Step 3: Add half the package of butterscotch instant pudding, 1 cup of heavy whipping cream and 5 drops of orange food dye to a mixer. Mix on low until a thick, mousse consistency forms. Pipe a smaller amount of orange cream on top of the yellow, as shown in the photo below.
Step 4: Add half the package of white chocolate instant pudding and 1 cup of heavy whipping cream to a mixer. Mix on low until a thick, mousse consistency forms. Pipe a small dollop of white cream on top of the orange, as shown in the photo below.
Step 5: Add a candy corn on top of each pie as garnish.
Step 6: Enjoy as you watch Cars 3 at home (available on Digital 10/24 and Blu-ray 11/7)!
