My 3 year old was beyond excited to have a Disney Planes movie night, complete with cloud jello and Oreo propellers. These are the things that my kids are going to remember about their childhood and I love creating those special memories for them. For our Planes themed movie night, I hung up some cloud paper, made a paper airplane garland, covered a table in “cloud” filling and made a few special treats. Talk about major mom points and I was able to get most of my supplies at my one stop shop – Walmart! My little guy was still talking about his Disney Planes movie night at school the next day.

Not only was the movie just plain cute, it also had a great take away message. Disney Planes was all about courage and stepping outside of your comfort zone. Dusty, a little crop duster plane, wants to race in a contest but he’s afraid of heights. He musters up some courage, overcomes his fear and is able to soar. I’ll let you watch the movie to find out if he wins the race for yourself.

My little guy has experienced a lot of change in the past 3 months with starting preschool and becoming a big brother. He has been so brave and resilient through all of these changes and I love that this movie gave us the opportunity to praise him for his courage. We are also currently going through a nightmare phase, which has been making bedtime a battle. Now, before bedtime, we talk about having courage and being brave like Dusty and it seems to really resonate with him. I love how kids can learn through movies and I especially love when movies have valuable lessons for kids (and adults too!).

Throw your own Disney Planes (own it on Blu-ray Combo Pack & Digital HD on November 19!) movie night with these fun treats:

Disney Planes Cloud Jello

Ingredients:

Blue Jello

Cool Whip

Mason Jars (1/2 pint)

Directions:

Make the Jello according to package and allow to harden overnight. Once the Jello is ready, scoop a little into the mason jar. Layer a small dab of Cool Whip on top of the Jello to look like a cloud. You’ll want to press the Cool Whip to the side of the jar, so it can be seen from the outside. Continue layering Jello and Cool Whip until the jar is full. Serve and enjoy!

Disney Planes Oreo Propellers

Ingredients:

Golden Oreos

Red Chocolate Candy Melts

Blue M&M’s

Orange Mike and Ike’s

Parchment Paper

Directions:

Melt red chocolate candy melts according to package. Dip Golden Oreos into the chocolate and place on parchment paper. Before the chocolate dries, place a blue M&M in the center and 2 Mike and Ike’s coming off of the M&M to look like a propeller. Allow to dry and enjoy!
