Sorry guys, I realize I’m a couple days late with my buff mama monday post. I have a teething toddler, too many writing commitments, hundreds of unanswered emails and an upcoming 5k trip all hitting me at the same time. In typical Vanessa fashion, I’ve bitten off more than I can chew. I’m taking big bites and swallowing fast to catch up though. This is actually what I wanted to blog about on Monday, the juggling act that us mamas perform, I was just too busy juggling.

I want to cheer on the mamas out there who made it to the gym today, because we all know it wasn’t an easy task to do. Before you stepped foot outside of the house, you were cooking dinner (and heating up your Nutrisystem meal), washing a load of laundry, folding towels, refolding the towels your toddler knocked over, unloading the dishwasher and asking your husband how his day went…all while singing the itsy bitsy spider song for the hundredth time that day. And then you go say goodnight to your kid and the mommy guilt hits you that you won’t be there to tuck him in, even though you know that an hour of you time at the gym is good for everyone. And then you get home from an exhausting workout and you still need to pack lunches or catch up on work or [insert a million other things here]. Your head finally hits the pillow and it’s already time to get up and do it all over again. Whew.

It would be so easy to just not go to the gym, pick an excuse from the list above (which are totally valid excuses). This is why I’m giving major kudos to my fellow mamas who made time for themselves, who took time out of their hectic schedule to go to zumba or spinning today. I’m giving major praise to the moms who set a healthy example for their kiddos, who let them know that it’s important to take care of themselves and respect their bodies. This juggling business isn’t easy!

    1. Logan’s working on his last 4 molars and they are taking FOREVER to come in. Thankfully he sleeps through the night, he’s just up at the crack of dawn and then grumpy the rest of the day. No fun for anyone!

  1. The juggling is so hard, most days I find ways to either run with my kids or bring them to the gym with me, since I just can’t motivate myself to go before or after my husband goes to work. Good for you! And I found you via your post on I heart nap time – which I thought was amazing because my husband wrote me a song for our wedding, and making that would be the best anniversary present this year!

    1. Thanks Ashley! I can’t wait to start running with Logan again. It’s way too hot, even at 5am, here to run outside so I’m stuck on the treadmill. That will definitely help to free up some time for me. I should probably try the gym daycare too, but I’m not sure how Logan would do there. Glad you liked the tutorial 🙂
