Add some spice to your next Taco Tuesday with El Yucateco Hot Sauce and these fun taco bar fiesta ideas! We are a taco loving family and tacos usually grace our menu every Tuesday. With Logan, my 4 year old, returning to preschool next week, I wanted to make his last week of summer a memorable one. I decided to jazz up our Taco Tuesday and throw a little back to school fiesta. A pinata and some crepe paper streamers (learn how to make the crepe paper pinata cups HERE) took care of the decor.

Instead of serving up ready made tacos, I placed all of the fixings out for my family to create their own taco creations. This was a total hit and could work for a small party, like this, or a much larger fiesta. I’m a huge fan of interactive party food stations! Totally affordable and so cute! Don’t forget to include different hot sauce options. My favorite is the El Yucateco Black Reserve Label Chile Habanero Hot Sauce (exclusively available at Walmart) for an added spicy kick!

For these tacos, I reinvented my mama’s recipe. She makes a mean beef taco with shredded white potatoes. To make our tacos slightly healthier, I experimented with throwing in some shredded sweet potatoes to our ground turkey and it was a hit! I love the contrasting flavors and my sweet potato loving kids gobbled them up. Oh and never buy packaged taco seasoning when you can make your own for a fraction of the cost and minus the preservatives. Happy Taco Tuesday!

Sweet Potato Turkey Tacos

Ingredients

1lb Ground Turkey

Olive Oil or Coconut Oil

1 Large Sweet Potato (Peeled and Shredded)

1/4 Teaspoon Garlic Powder

1/4 Teaspoon Onion Powder

1/4 Teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper Flakes

1/2 Teaspoon Cumin

1/2 Teaspoon Paprika

1 Teaspoon Sea Salt

1 Teaspoon Black Pepper

Taco Shells

Taco Fixings (cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole, jalapenos, etc.)

El Yucateco Hot Sauce (Black Label Reserve is our flavor of choice)

Directions

Step 1: Head to Walmart to purchase El Yucateco Hot Sauce and the rest of your ingredients. I found El Yucateco in the Hispanic food aisle at my local Walmart, right next to the taco shells.

Step 2: Brown the ground turkey in olive oil or coconut oil. Drain any excess oil and add seasonings (garlic powder, onion powder, crushed red pepper flakes, cumin, paprika, sea salt and black pepper). Mix well.

Step 3: Add shredded sweet potatoes and mix over medium heat until potatoes are soft and slightly browned.

Step 4: Add meat to taco shells and arrange in the taco bar. Have guests make their own tacos however they like them. I’m a lettuce, cheese, tomato, jalepeno kinda girl with a splash of El Yucateco Hot Sauce.

Step 5: Join us at the bilingual #SauceOn Twitter Party for inspiration and ideas on how to bring more excitement to your everyday meals by using El Yucateco.  We’ll be sharing delicious and exciting recipes using El Yucateco and there will be $550 in Walmart gift cards!  RSVP here:  http://www.sofabchats.com/parties/233-sauceon
