Rice crispy treats are easy and fun for kids to help with! My son enjoys measuring out and pouring the ingredients, while I man the stove. Over the weekend, we made heart shaped crispy marshmallow treats for his teachers and the staff at his school. If you couldn’t tell, we sorta love sprinkles around here. The more the better! I thought our treats turned out super cute coated in heart shaped sprinkles! You can make these treats ahead of time, wrap them up in cello bags and give them out the next day. They’d also be a hit for Valentine’s Day parties, a gift for your valentine or just a special treat at home.
INGREDIENTS
1/4 cup butter
4 cups mini marshmallows
6 1/2 cups rice cereal
pink chocolate melts
heart sprinkles
You’ll also need: parchment paper, heart cookie cutter
DIRECTIONS
Step 1: In a saucepan, melt butter and marshmallows over low heat. Continuously stir until melted.
Step 2: Remove from heat and mix in rice cereal until evenly coated.
Step 3: Spread, 1 inch thick, on a piece of parchment paper and allow to cool.
Step 4: Use a heart cookie cutter to cut out heart shapes into the marshmallow crispy treats.
Step 5: Melt chocolate melts according to package. Dip the front of the hearts into the chocolate and then dip in sprinkles, completely coating the entire front.
Step 6: Allow chocolate to cool and harden. Enjoy!
