I received an all expense paid trip from Disney to attend the #ChristopherRobinEvent. The opinions expressed here are my own and I received no monetary compensation.
Never in a million years did I ever imagine that my real grown up job would entail interviewing Ewan McGregor about his latest film, walking the red carpet alongside Hayley Atwell and being in the same room as Jim Cummings (the voice of Pooh and Tigger). The Christopher Robin premiere and press junket was the most amazing whirlwind and I just keep pinching myself to make sure it actually happened. I wish I could bottle up the feeling of being on the red carpet for you. It’s exciting, a bit nerve wracking and the adrenaline in the air is almost tangible. I’m so grateful to Disney Studios for these incredible experiences.
It was fitting that the premiere was held on the Disney Studios Lot, a rare occurrence, because these beloved characters from Winnie the Pooh are so special to Disney. On the morning of the premiere, Disney dedicated a sound stage on the lot to the Sherman brothers. The talented duo wrote many of the classic Disney songs, including “It’s A Small World” and “A Spoonful of Sugar”. Richard Sherman also composed three new songs for Christopher Robin and if you stay until the end of the credits, you might just see a special cameo. This premiere felt very nostalgic and Disney went all out with the cutest photo opts and props from the film scattered throughout. Mickey and Minnie were in attendance and honey pot cookies were served at the pre-party.
The cherry on top of this trip was that several of my favorite bloggers also happened to be on this press trip. What’s a group of Disney loving bloggers to do when they are invited to the Christopher Robin premiere in LA? We Disneybound! Disneybounding is when you wear non-costume clothing that resembles a specific character. Pay attention the next time you are in Disney World or Disneyland parks and you’ll spot many people Disneybounding as their favorite Disney characters. “Spot the Disneybounder” is one of my favorite games to play while waiting in ride lines.
Can you guess who we Disneybounded as? Sarah of Savoring The Good bounded as Christopher Robin, Britni of Play Party Plan picked Piglet, I went with Tigger, Karen of Desert Chica rocked Eeyore and Becca of My Crazy Good Life channeled her inner Pooh. It was fun to do and got me out of my color comfort zone. Finding an orange dress that I didn’t hate was quite difficult until I found eShakti. I was able to not only pick the fabric color but also the neckline, sleeve and length. I’m 5’10” and finding dresses to fit my height always proves to be a challenge. My dress was comfortable, fit me well and came with POCKETS! This will be my go to dress shop from now on.
It was such a magical night, one that I’ll remember forever. Winnie the Pooh was a big part of my childhood and it was incredible to see it come alive and evolve on the big screen. Stay tuned for my film review. Spoiler: I LOVED IT! Christopher Robin hits theaters everywhere Friday, August 3rd! Check out the adorable trailer and go buy your tickets today:
