Halloween might be over, but the Harry Potter fun continues year round in our house! My son recently finished reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. We celebrated with a Harry Potter book party and movie night. It was a big hit and we can’t wait to dive into book 4!
Like every Halloween, we vote on what our Halloween family costume will be. I love this tradition so much and hope we can continue the family costumes for at least a bit longer. We’ve dressed in dinosaur costumes, fish and fisherman costumes, martian and astronaut costumes, nutcracker and ballerina costumes and Wreck It Ralph family costumes. Harry Potter family Halloween costumes won this year and I couldn’t wait to put them together!
HOW DO I MAKE A HARRY POTTER COSTUME?
You’ll notice that these Harry Potter Halloween family costumes aren’t fully DIY, making them an easy last minute idea. They are mostly pieced together using store bought pieces and stuff we have around the house. Would you call that semi-DIY? All I know is, thank goodness for Amazon Prime!

HOW DO I MAKE A HERMIONE GRANGER COSTUME?
Like the Harry Potter costume, I pieced together this Hermione Granger costume using store bought pieces. The nice thing about these costumes is that my kids already had majority of the pieces in their closets for their own school uniforms. I found the wig on Amazon and it was a super close match to Hermione in the first movie. I gave the bangs a little trim and it was ready to go!

HOW DO I CREATE HARRY POTTER FAMILY HALLOWEEN COSTUMES?
For Lord Voldemort, I decided to just go ahead and purchase a costume. You could probably piece this one together with some white face paint and a black robe, but I took the easy route. For the Sorting Hat, I used the hat that was the centerpiece of our recent Harry Potter book party and simply wore a brown dress. Easy peasy!
